Protecting Your Personal Information
We will provide specific notice before collecting any of your personal information (details that can identify you as an individual, such as your name and address). We will explain what information is being collected and how it will be used. You have the right to decline to have this information collected or transferred for marketing purposes. We collect no personal information about you unless you choose to provide that information to us. We do not use techniques that collect personal information about you without your knowledge. Any personally identifiable data about our customers or Web site visitors is stored securely.
How We Use Non-Personal Information
ODA’s Web site operating system may automatically record some general information about your visit, such as:
- The Internet domain for your Internet service provider, such as “company.com” or “service.ca” and the IP address of the computer accessing the Web site, such as “ppp-55”. An IP address is a number automatically assigned to your computer whenever you access the Internet. IP addresses allow computers and servers to recognize and communicate with one another. IP addresses are used to properly administer our system and to gather aggregate information on visitors to our site and how our site is being used, including the pages visitors are viewing. To maintain your anonymity, we do not associate IP addresses with records containing personal information. We will use IP address information, however, to personally identify you when necessary to enforce our legal rights or when required to do so by law enforcement authorities.
- The type of browser (such as “Netscape version x” or “Internet Explorer version x”) you are using
- The type of operating system you are using (such as Macintosh, Unix, or Windows)
- The date and time you visit our site and the web pages that you visit on our site, along with the address of the previous Web site you were visiting, if you linked to us from another Web site. We use this information for e.g. billing, customer support, customer contact, to make you aware of additional products and services which may be of interest to you, to contact you regarding site changes, statistical analysis, etc., and to help us make our site more useful to visitors.
Some areas of our site may allow you to conduct e-commerce transactions. In connection with these transactions, we securely collect data necessary to complete the transaction and that is furnished by you.
We may disclose this non-personal information to a third party in order to facilitate the transaction or to other third parties such as sponsors, clients or advertisers and/or use it for auditing purposes under contractual privacy obligations to Web site. This tracking system does not record personal information about individuals or link this information to any personal data collected.
We may use “cookies” that identify you as a return visitor. A cookie is a piece of data that a Web site can send to your browser, which may then store the cookie on your hard drive. These cookies automatically identify your browser to our server whenever you interact with the Web site. So, when you come back to visit us again, we can tailor information to suit your individual preferences. The goal is to save you time and provide you with a more meaningful visit and to measure Web site activity. Cookies do not contain any personally identifying information. Most browsers automatically accept these cookies, however browsers such as Netscape allow you to disable cookie collection if you wish, or inform you when a cookie is being stored on your hard drive.
We use general traffic, site usage, and length of stay information in reports to advertisers and firms with which we have a business relationship. This sort of information is shared only on an aggregated basis and does not personally identify you.
We do not permit registration by, nor collect personally identifiable information from any person we know to be under the age of 18.
The ODA will be pleased to inform you of the existence, any use, and disclosure of personally identifying information, and provide you with access to that Personal Information, within 30 (thirty) days of a receipt of a written request directed by fax or mail to Web site, Chief Privacy Officer. To request a change or delete information that has previously been provided by you to us, write to Web site, Chief Privacy Officer with the details of your request. Contact information is at the end of this statement.
When You Leave This Site
This policy discloses the privacy practices for our Web site. However, our site contains links to other sites, including sites that may indicate a special relationship with us. Once you link to another site, you are subject to the privacy and security policies of the new site. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of all Web sites you visit, especially if you share any personal information.
